Sarah Palin's Yahoo Mail Account is Hacked

If you're a typical Yahoo mail user and you forget your password, you have to answer a series of questions before you can access your account. The questions are typically personal in nature and can typically only be answered by the account owner.

However, Sarah Palin's account was hacked because someone was able to figure out the answers to her personal questions through quick Web searches and mental logic. The full details can be found here . Basically, Ms. Palin's personal questions were:

1) Her birthday (answer found on Wikipedia)
2) Zip Code (Found at US Mail Website. The hacker knew she was from Wasilia, AK)
3) Where she met her spouse (Through some research, the hacker discovered that she eloped with her high school sweetheart, so the name of her high school was the answer)

The truth of the matter is that anyone who knows you well, friends and relatives for example, probably know enough to break into any of your Web based accounts if the site requires you answer personal questions when you forget your password. Think about the above three questions. How many people do you know that could answer all three of them?

Questions:
1) Why would someone want to hack into Sarah Palin's account?
2) Do you think the hacker should be prosecuted?
3) Why would the hacker brag about hacking into the account?
4) Can you think of any personal questions that might be more difficult for someone to answer than the ones listed above? (Keep it clean!)

the question as to why someone would hack into Sarah Palin's mail account is simply because she is Sarah Palin. New into the political world, people are always finding more and more about her. Everyone wants to know who she is, thats what happens when you become a political figure.
Now,do i think the hacker should be prosecuted? do all hackers get prosecuted? i think the hacker should get fined or whatever the consequence but keep in mind how many hackers there are in the world.
Who knows why the hacker bragged about his job well done... that just shows you what kind of person he is.
i don't know how famous people or authorities keep their mail private but in general your "personal hints" shouldn't be so obvious like your birthday. they should be totally random/madeup/inside jokes or something otherwise you'll learn like sarah Palin did.

Of course people are going to try to pry into the lives of anyone that is trying to be a leader of our country. She should have expected that something like this would happen and she should have taken better security precautions. The answers to those questions on yahoo should be completely made up so that crazy hackers can not just look up her information and get into her personal e-mail. However, you can not really blame the hackers because people do this kind of stuff all the time and when you have publicity like she does you need to be alert and aware of these things.

...i think it is stupid that such a big deal is made out of this, kids like that can hack into anyones computer at any time. it is only such a deal because it is a political figure...who should be smart enough to make the security questions "secure." The kid should be fined maybe, but this happens all the time and goes unknown. its happen to me before, i have no idea who it was or what they would want in my account, but i changed my name and password and that was the end of it..no big deal.

It does not surprise me that someone hacked Sarah Palin’s email because she is such a hot topic now. I am surprised that a public figure like her would not have a more secure email than Yahoo Mail. Even though the question are easy to find out, especially when all your information is public knowledge, you can still make up your answer like putting someone else birthday in or just making up a date. Hacking has become so common and easy that no one can really be safe from it. I believe no matter what the situation there should consequence for hacking anyone’s email or computer information.

Sarah Palin in my opinion should take better care of her personal information now that she is in the political spotlight. The hacker would want to get her information simply because he wanted to show off to others. I think that the hacker should get some time because he broke the law. I think that the questions they ask in case you forget your password should be more detailed. If the security questions by yahoo were not so easy to find out, then maybe there would be less hacking into accounts of famous people.

I think Sarah palin's account was hacked into was just so the hacker could say he could. And he bragged about it because he knows he can get away with it, laugh about it, and possibly get a job offer from it.
I think the hacker should be prosecuted in some way, because he could of broken into her house to get that info and then he would definetly be prosecuted. She could have used better passwords considering she is a public figure, but, in that sense someone could be allowed to break into your home because you only had a "simple lock". It is no exuse, really, and people have a reasonable right to privacy, whether it be in your home or on your computer.
Possible other questions could have been either pet she had growing up, or favorite TV show as a child. Questions that probably would not be documented somewhere.
Bottom line, I don't think it is really her fault, it is illegal to hack into someones computer and access any information.
And just because hackers gain illegal access to accounts all the time doesn't make it right. Maybe if they prosecuted him, it would be a example to the rest of the hackers, BECAUSE it is in the spotlight.

i think Sarah Palin's account was hacked into just because someone wanted to see if they can hack into someone's account, so they could feel like they accomplished something sly and sneaky and they know that they could get away with it.
I think the hacker should be prosecuted because he could of hacked into other personal files, that she could have in her account, that is personal and private. i think She could have used better passwords considering she is a public figure.
i think there could have been other questions asked, ones that are not obvious and easy to figure out. Questions, that you couldnt find documented any where with easy access.
I don't think it is her fault, it is illegal to hack into someones account and get there information.

This type of behavior is nothing new nor a surprise.Several politicians uc as Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton had their passport identification stolen. Personal information is always to be kept a secret no matter who you are because the information can be misused in so many different ways. The hacker should be prosecuted because they need to be taught they cannot engage in this type of negative behavior in society. They could brag but who would they brag to?
